Email & Nurture

What is list segmentation?

List segmentation means dividing your email list into groups so each receives messages relevant to them. For a small local list, two or three segments captures nearly all of the benefit — and over-segmenting produces work without producing results.

Frequently asked questions

Which segments matter most?

Past customers versus enquiries who never booked. One group needs reminding you exist and the other needs convincing — the same email cannot do both well.

How many segments should a small list have?

Two or three. Every segment is another version of every email, and for a few hundred contacts the difference between three and twelve is not measurable in bookings.

What is the engagement segment for?

Deliverability rather than relevance. Mailing only recently engaged contacts protects your sender reputation, because engagement is what providers watch when deciding inbox placement.

What data do I need to segment?

Service used, date, area and how they came to you — captured at the time of the job. A list of bare email addresses cannot be segmented usefully, and the data cannot be reconstructed later.
